I did find at home depot a product by Skil called "worm-drive lubricant" ( here's a place online selling the same product)Īnd someone on the ridgid forum said they thought it would be fine, but I have no real reason to think that is true, and no way of confirming whether this skil stuff is comparable to the mobil stuff the manual calls for. Googling, I did find a thread about this on the ridgid forum, where someone helpfully noted that Mobil SHC 636 Oil is a 680 viscocity gear oil, which sounds great, but I have no idea what that means. The manual says that I need to use Mobil SHC 636 Oil, but like others I have been unable to find any such thing. How I'm supposed to keep track of ten hours when you use it for, what, how long does a cut take, 30 seconds? ok, when you use it for just 30 seconds at a time, I don't know, but I've had it for a year now and so I think I'm over the ten hour mark. I was sure that there had been a thread on this before, but search as I may I could not find it.Īnyway, the manual of my ridgid wormdrive saw says I should change the oil after the first ten hours of operation.
